Continuing my VACAY PICKS Travel series, I must recommend some of the best eats in New Orleans.
Fresh off a flight, Ruby Slipper is a sight, smell, and taste for a weary traveler or a ravenous local. The menu offers savory brunch faire in hearty portions.

Right off Canal Street in Downtown New Orleans – Ruby Slipper Cafe is a choice of locals with knowledge of flavor.
Eggs Coubion – Thin-fried Mississippi farm-raised catfish over french bread spears, topped with poached eggs, a sautè of spinach, tomatoes, artichoke hearts and tasso, finished with a Creole tomato Courtbouillon
Lively interior decor surrounded by vintage charm
Shrimp and Grits – The buscuit was delish, also. A light crusty exterior with a tender center – no butter needed.
Eggs Coubillion – I don’t even get down with poached eggs, but I made an exception for this unique comfort food combo.
